Softball Recap: Destiny Christian Academy Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Win

Destiny Christian Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Rio Linda Knights get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 12 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Roxanne Sardo, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Rio Linda off the board. Sardo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, McKayla Fulmer and Savanna Newman did most of the damage at the plate: Fulmer went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Newman went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most runs Fulmer has posted since back in April. Maddilyn Woodcock was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Destiny Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Linda only posted a batting average of .045.

The win (which was Destiny Christian Academy's tenth in a row) raised their record to 21-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Rio Linda, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-9.

Destiny Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 13-3 win against Placer on the 20th. Rio Linda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
