Football Recap: West Stokes Takes a Loss

West Stokes extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They had to suffer through a 35-7 loss at the hands of the Statesville Greyhounds. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 66th).

As for Statesville, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.3 points over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Statesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaikoda Harrington, who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 54 yards and one TD. Blake Terry was another key back, rushing for 77 yards and one score on only seven carries.

West Stokes and Statesville will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Wildcats see the field they'll take on Forbush at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Statesville, their break will end when they face Lake Norman at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
