Basketball Recap: Mesick Comes Up Short

Mesick played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Bear Lake Lakers, falling 63-33. The Bulldogs were down 46-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the defeat, Mesick saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ty Redman posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaeden Simpson, who earned six points and 14 rebounds.

Grady Harless had a dynamite game for Bear Lake, going 8 of 17 on his way to 22 points along with six boards and four steals. The contest was Harless' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Nowak, who had 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Mesick and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Bear Lake, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Mesick will head out to square off against Mason County Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bear Lake, they will host Leland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Bear Lake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
