Soccer Preview: Gonzales vs. Luling
The Gonzales Apaches are taking a road trip to square off against the Luling Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gonzales' last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Friday, Gonzales didn't have quite enough to beat John F. Kennedy and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that Gonzales have lost by just one goal.
Luling fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Yoakum. Luling's winning goal came courtesy of Jayden Hernandez.
Luling's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Gonzales, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Gonzales got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in February of 2025 against Luling by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Apaches since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
