Basketball Recap: Bell Comes Up Short

On Friday, Bell faced Anacostia in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Bell Griffins were outmatched by the Anacostia Indians and fell 65-30. The Griffins' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Anacostia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nayjah Duvall led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 24 points, ten boards, and ten assists. Duvall has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times she's played. Ta'Shaun Robinson was another key player, putting up 20 points and six rebounds.

Bell's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Anacostia, they moved to 2-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Bell will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coolidge at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Anacostia, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-36 loss against Space Coast on the 27th.
