Baseball Recap: Butler Takes a Loss

Butler extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs, falling 14-4. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for El Dorado Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. That looming 14-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For El Dorado Springs' part, KanDyn Ewert made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ewert was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Karsen Burley was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Burley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Cain Caldwell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler will welcome Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Dorado Springs, they will be playing at home against Stockton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
