Baseball Game Recap: Paramount Pirates vs. Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits

Paramount extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 14-10 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-0 to the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jackrabbits this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 on Tuesday.

As for Long Beach Poly, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Long Beach Poly's part, Ryan King tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. King has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Long Beach Poly's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tate Hammond, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Giovanni Migliazza also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paramount will take on Mayfair at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Monsoons will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. As for Long Beach Poly, they will head out on the road to face off against Millikan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jackrabbits' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
