Football Recap: De La Salle Collegiate Takes Down Fitzgerald in a Playoff Battle + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only De La Salle Collegiate walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Fitzgerald Spartans with a sharp 56-34 win on Friday. The Pilots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 22 points or more this season.

Loss or not, Fitzgerald got some senior leadership from Devon Billings and Deondre Currie. Billings rushed for 102 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, while Currie picked up 79 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 61 yards. Jaylen Maddox was in the mix too, providing Fitzgerald with two scores.

De La Salle Collegiate's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Fitzgerald, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Coming up, De La Salle Collegiate will face off against Port Huron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fitzgerald does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
