Football Recap: Columbia Takes a Loss

Columbia blew Yoakum out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Yoakum got their revenge. The Roughnecks fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 23-21. The Roughnecks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Columbia still got an impressive performance from Logan Lewis, who picked up 136 receiving yards and three scores. Lewis' longest reception was for an incredible 84 yards. Another player making a difference was Cade Thoe, who threw for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine passes.

This is the second loss in a row for Columbia and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Yoakum, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbia will challenge Wharton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Roughnecks will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. As for Yoakum, they will head out to take on Hyde Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
