Volleyball Recap: Mountainside Comes Up Short

After flying high against Beaverton on Thursday, Mountainside came back down to earth. The Mavericks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Salem Saxons on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mavericks of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2021.

Leading South Salem to victory were Kamree Orizotti and Madison Farnes. Orizotti had 11 assists, while Farnes had ten assists.

Mountainside has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for South Salem, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-6.

Looking ahead, Mountainside will face off against Sunset at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Salem, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Oregon City on the 11th.
