Softball Recap: Barron Collier Comes Up Short

Barron Collier extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 10-9. They came up short against the Evangelical Christian Sentinels, falling 13-3. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Sentinels from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Barron Collier saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macey Doupe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another was Anneliese Meyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Evangelical Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

On Evangelical Christian's side, Cozette Turnbaugh looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Turnbaugh has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Evangelical Christian got a massive performance out of Keaunna Green, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs. Green has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last seven times she's played. Karsyn Mootz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Barron Collier will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Naples at 6:00 p.m. on the 28th. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.9 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Evangelical Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-5 loss against IMG Academy on the 20th.
