The Mission Eagles will square off against the McAllen Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Mission didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Rowe, but they still walked away with a 36-30 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Alejandro Cano had an outrageously good game as he threw for 286 yards and three TDs, and also punched in one rushing score. He has become a key player for Mission: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was James Delgado, who rushed for 106 yards and one touchdown.
Mission didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Rowe to a completion percentage of just 40.9%. The Eagles weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McAllen). They blew past Rio Grande City 55-7 on Friday. With the Bulldogs ahead 28-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Mission better keep an eye on McCoy Wolthoff. He was instrumental in McAllen's win, throwing for 193 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 55 yards and one score on only five carries. The dominant performance also gave Wolthoff a new career-high in passer rating (157.9).
McAllen didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Riley Ousley and Hayden Helgeson. Ousley is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Helgeson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
McAllen's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Mission, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Mission came up short against McAllen in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 42-35. Thankfully for the Eagles, Joaquin Valdez (who threw for 260 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 45 yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
