Basketball Recap: Wyandanch's Losing Streak Snapped at 12 Games

Wyandanch can bid farewell to their 12-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They secured a 45-40 W over the Eastport-South Manor Sharks. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Sharks back in December of 2024, they had to take a 56-26 loss.

Nyasia Murphy was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 16 en route to 19 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Yonnie Ware, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Wyandanch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Wyandanch's victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-12. As for Eastport-South Manor, they dropped their record down to 2-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Wyandanch will welcome Harborfields at 12:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Eastport-South Manor, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Amityville Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on February 4th.
