Softball Recap: Cranberry Area Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Cranberry Area put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Karns City Gremlins a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Berries have won eight games by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ashylyn McWilliams was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Avery Coe also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cranberry Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.

Cranberry Area's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Karns City, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-6.

Looking ahead, Cranberry Area will venture away from home to face off against Reynolds at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Karns City, they will host Redbank Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
