Softball Recap: Superior Sets Scoring Season-High Against Miami

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Superior). They put the hurt on the Miami Vandals with a sharp 16-6 victory on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lessenia Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Superior let Rose Tomerlin and Lilliana Fritz run wild. Tomerlin got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI and one run, while Fritz scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave Fritz a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Kadynce Toner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Superior kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Superior's record is now 5-1. As for Miami, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Coming up, Superior will be playing at home against Williams at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Miami, they will face off against St. John Paul II Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
