Football Recap: West End Comes Up Short + How To Watch

West End fell victim to Coosa Christian and their airtight defense on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Conquerors and fell 55-0. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, the Patriots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Brodie Mass threw for 42 yards on four of 12 attempts. Brayden Mitchell was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards.

Leading Coosa Christian to victory were Joseph East and Mac Long. East rushed for 100 yards and two TDs on only six carries, while Long threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Long a new career-high in passer rating (154.9).

West End dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Coosa Christian, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Looking ahead, West End will look to defend their home field on the 24th against Southeastern at 7:00 p.m. As for Coosa Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tuscaloosa Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Conquerors 12.8, the Knights 13.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
