Basketball Game Preview: De Soto Pirates vs. Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets

De Soto hasn't had much luck against Wauzeka-Steuben recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The De Soto Pirates will be home for the holidays to greet the Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, De Soto was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 63-58 to Kickapoo.

Meanwhile, Wauzeka-Steuben entered their tilt with Ithaca on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 58-26 win over the Bulldogs. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 29 points or more this season.

Wauzeka-Steuben's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.1 points. As for De Soto, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

De Soto took a serious blow against Wauzeka-Steuben in their previous meeting back in January, falling 78-38. Can De Soto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
