Baseball Game Preview: Huntington Highlanders vs. Capital Cougars

The Huntington Highlanders will head out on the road to take on the Capital Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Huntington blew Parkersburg out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Parkersburg got their revenge. The Highlanders fell just short of the Big Reds by a score of 4-2.

Meanwhile, Capital was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Cabell Midland. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since May 8, 2024.

Capital's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Huntington, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Huntington skirted past Capital 6-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
