Baseball Recap: Carmel Victorious

While Carmel's win against Carroll wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Greyhounds sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Chargers on Saturday. The Greyhounds haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cal Carmichael spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Carmel is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mark Neels, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Zangrilli, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Chargers beat Carmel by a score of 3-2 later that day.
