Baseball Recap: Greenon Takes a Loss

Greenon extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-14 in the process. They lost 10-2 to the West Liberty-Salem Tigers. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for West Liberty-Salem, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 11-1).

For West Liberty-Salem's part, Isaiah Reames made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave Reames a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brodey Deam, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Caleb Hershberger was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Greenon will head out on the road to face off against Triad at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Liberty-Salem, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Versailles at 5:15 p.m.
