Volleyball Recap: Alcorn Central Finds Playoff Glory Versus Holly Springs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Alcorn Central had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Holly Springs Hawks with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Alcorn Central took every set by at least 19 points. The final score came out to 25-3, 25-6, 25-4.

Among those leading the charge was Lacy Cartee, who had 20 aces. Those 20 aces gave her a new career-high.

Cartee wasn't the only good servers: Alcorn Central was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 35 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive matches.

Alcorn Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-14-1 record this season. As for Holly Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Alcorn Central has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Yazoo County on the 7th. Holly Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
