Softball Recap: Benbrook Beats Dunbar for Their 12th Straight Win

Benbrook came tearing into Tuesday's match with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Dunbar Wildcats. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by six runs or more this season.

Bailey Shaw was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Natalya Muzquiz and Camryn Bentley did most of the damage at the plate: Muzquiz went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Bentley scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Bentley has been hot recently, having also posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Giuliana Lucero, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Benbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .880. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Benbrook's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Dunbar, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Looking ahead, Benbrook will face off against Tolar at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rattlers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. Dunbar does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
