Softball Recap: Higley's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

There's no place like home for Higley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Mesquite Wildcats on Monday as they made off with a 13-5 victory. The Knights not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 16-1).

Skylar Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Jones was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Higley let Samantha Parisi and Zoie Van Hoek run wild. Parisi got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Van Hoek went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Parisi has posted over her last 12 contests.

Higley moved to 7-16-1 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Mesquite, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Higley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-0 loss against Highland on the 8th. As for Mesquite, they have also already played their next game, a 15-13 victory against St. Mary's on the 8th.
