Softball Recap: Brawley Wildcats vs. Imperial Tigers

Brawley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-16 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Imperial Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Tuesday.

Arriana Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brawley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roslyn Rubio, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Imperial, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5. Four seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brawley will welcome Palo Verde Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Imperial, they will host Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Tigers' favor as the team sits on 14 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Spartans have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
