Baseball Recap: Johnsburg Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Johnsburg has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.27 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They skirted past the Richmond-Burton Rockets 11-10. With that victory, the Skyhawks brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Peyton Mesce looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Johnsburg let Tayden Pinkowski and Evan Pohl run wild. Pinkowski scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Pohl scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Pohl a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Fisher, who scored three runs and stole two bases.

Johnsburg's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Richmond-Burton, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
