Baseball Recap: Filer Wins Going Away Against Gooding

Filer hadn't done well against Gooding recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Senators with a sharp 11-1 victory. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Brett Paxton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Filer is 3-1 when Paxton allows two or fewer hits, but 6-12 otherwise. Paxton was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Wyatt Blass was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Aydyn Burns was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Filer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gooding only posted a batting average of .071.

The victory made it two in a row for Filer and bumps their season record up to 9-13. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Gooding, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.

As of now, neither Filer nor the Senators have any future games scheduled.
