Softball Recap: Purchase Line Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Purchase Line won against United on Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Red Dragons came out on top against the Penns Manor Comets by a score of 7-3. For the Red Dragons, this counts as revenge for the 9-0 victory the Comets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Rylee Mahaffey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooklynn Walker, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alorra Phillips, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

The win (which was Purchase Line's third in a row) raised their record to 10-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Penns Manor, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Purchase Line will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Comets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
