Preview: St. Luke's Episcopal Wildcats vs. Chickasaw Chieftains
St. Luke's Episcopal has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Chickasaw Chieftains at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, St. Luke's Episcopal beat Clarke County 59-50. The win was just what St. Luke's Episcopal needed coming off of a 62-35 defeat in their prior game.
Chickasaw posted their biggest victory since December 20, 2023 on Friday. They put the hurt on Blacksher with a sharp 57-33 victory.
Chickasaw can attribute much of their success to Jaquives Daniels, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Daniels has scored all season. Robert Jackson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
The win got St. Luke's Episcopal back to even at 9-9. As for Chickasaw, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
St. Luke's Episcopal came up short against Chickasaw when the teams last played on January 5th, falling 60-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Chickasaw's Sydrus Gilmore, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Now that St. Luke's Episcopal knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
