Basketball Recap: Steeleville Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Avery Roberts and Rylan Reiss

Steeleville lost against Marissa/Coulterville back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Steeleville Warriors fell 43-30 to the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Meteors are ranked 236th).

Steeleville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rylan Reiss, who went 5-for-11 en route to 14 points, and Avery Roberts, who posted seven points. That's the most points Roberts has posted since back in December of 2023.

Steeleville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Marissa/Coulterville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-7.

Steeleville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-28 victory against Dupo on the 10th. As for Marissa/Coulterville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-48 win against Wesclin on the 8th.
