Baseball Recap: Canyon Lake Comes Up Short

If Canyon Lake was riding high fresh off their 27-4 takedown of Gonzales last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Canyon Lake fell just short of the Wimberley Texans by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The match marked Canyon Lake's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Carter Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last five games.

At the plate, Michael Anderson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Canyon Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5-1. As for Wimberley, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3-1.

While Canyon Lake had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
