Bryan hasn't had much luck against Omaha North recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bears will welcome the Vikings. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Bryan took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Auburn 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 21st.

Turner Marlowe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bryan is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-17 otherwise. Marlowe was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Karol Hernandez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. He has become a key player for Bryan: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-15 otherwise.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Omaha North sidestepped Tekamah-Herman for a 9-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Like Bryan, Omaha North also got a great game from a two-way player: Colin Kinman. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Kinman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Ethan Hayes looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Nate French, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Chance Kinman, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Omaha North's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Bryan, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-17.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bryan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Omaha North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Bryan came up short against Omaha North when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 11-7. Will the Bears have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
