Football Game Preview: Davie County War Eagles vs. Lake Norman Wildcats + How To Watch

The Davie County War Eagles will head out to challenge the Lake Norman Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Davie County after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They were dealt a 42-9 defeat at the hands of Mooresville. The War Eagles haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Lake Norman had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Raiders 55-13. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-7.

Davie County better keep an eye on Kaden Craft. He was instrumental in Lake Norman's win, rushing for 35 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 155 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Craft a new career-high in passer rating (168.8). Jayden Nordtveit was in the mix too, providing Lake Norman with two TDs.

Davie County's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Lake Norman, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Davie County strolled past Lake Norman in their previous matchup back in September of 2021 by a score of 42-28. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Aj Baker, who rushed for 131 yards while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also caught one score. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the War Eagles to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
