Softball Game Preview: Stanton Blue Devils vs. Riverside Generals

Stanton is 8-1 against Riverside since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will look to defend their home field against the Generals at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Stanton's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Riverside has been banged up by 19 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

On Monday, Stanton earned a 5-1 win over ED White. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Commanders: they've now won three in a row.

Leah Joseph spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Evie Moore was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Riverside fell victim to First Coast and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Buccaneers.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Stanton, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Stanton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Stanton's way against Riverside when the teams last played back in March, as Stanton made off with a 15-0 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
