Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Wildcats vs. Amite School Center Rebels

The Columbia Wildcats will square off against the Amite School Center Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Columbia's win against Loyd Star wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Hornets 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Amite School Center sidestepped Centreville Academy for a 2-1 victory.

Amite School Center has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Columbia, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.

Columbia was able to grind out a solid win over Amite School Center when the teams last played back in February, winning 4-1. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
