Football Recap: University Prep Starts Season with Loss on the Road

University Prep had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a hard 35-20 fall against the St. Anthony's Friars on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Griffins of the 32-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Xavier Bala was nothing short of spectacular for St. Anthony's: he rushed for 170 yards and three scores. Those 170 rushing yards gave Bala a new career-high.

St. Anthony's pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

University Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 39-20 victory against Pittsford on the 12th. As for St. Anthony's, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 28-0 defeat against Don Bosco Prep on the 12th.
