Basketball Recap: Torres Toros vs. Sanger West Hornets
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Torres and Sanger West had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Toros came up short against the Hornets on Thursday, falling 61-35. The Toros haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Sanger West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kharon Parks out in front who went 6-for-13 en route to 19 points and three steals. Parks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Ruffin, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards.
Torres' defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Sanger West, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.
Torres will venture away from home to face off against Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Toros will be up against the Grizzlies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 72.95 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sanger West, they will welcome McLane at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' defense better be ready for this one: the Highlanders have averaged an impressive 67.5 points per game this season.
