Basketball Recap: Ashbrook Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Ashbrook extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Jakyra Sadler. The Ashbrook Greenwave claimed a resounding 70-29 win over the Forestview Jaguars thanks in part to Sadler, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten assists, and ten steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last five games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of AriAnnA Mcdowell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. She is becoming a predictor of Ashbrook's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 2-1 (and 3-7 when she doesn't).

Despite the defeat, Forestview saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sa'Ryah McCorkle went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Ashbrook's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8. As for Forestview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Ashbrook will challenge North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ashbrook is facing North Gaston at the right time seeing as North Gaston is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Forestview, they will take on Kings Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
