Soccer Game Preview: Castle View vs. Mountain Vista

Castle View hasn't had much luck against Mountain Vista recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Sabercats will challenge the Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m.

Castle View is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Regis Jesuit on Tuesday. The Sabercats fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Castle View came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked second, while Regis Jesuit are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Mountain Vista entered their tilt with Chaparral on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Wolverines. Two seems to be a good number for Mountain Vista as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Hannah Carlson and Keira Woody scored both of Mountain Vista's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Mountain Vista pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Castle View, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-2-1.
