The Whitehall Railroaders will head out on the road to square off against the Stillwater Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitehall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Last Monday, Whitehall needed a bit of extra time to put away Fair Haven. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Slaters. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Railroaders.
Khloe Paddock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Mia Waters was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Bella Spitoleri also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Stillwater waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with an 18-5 win. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly 13 runs.
The team relied heavily on Emery Powers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Morgan Kaiser, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
Stillwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Stillwater's record now sits at 9-6. As for Whitehall, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Whitehall has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Stillwater struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Whitehall couldn't quite finish off Stillwater when the teams last played back in May of 2023 and fell 3-1. Can the Railroaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
