Soccer Game Preview: Tranquillity vs. Avenal

Tranquillity is 2-8 against Avenal since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tranquillity Tigers will face off against the Avenal Buccaneers at 5:30 p.m. Tranquillity's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Friday, Tranquillity and Coalinga finished up their game with a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Avenal came up short against Mendota on Friday and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 560th, while the Aztecs are ranked 104th).

Avenal's loss dropped their record down to 17-6-4. With that draw, Tranquillity's record moves to 10-11-3.

Tranquillity came out on top in a nail-biter against Avenal when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tranquillity since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
