Baseball Game Preview: Riverside Indian Braves vs. Lawton Wolverines

The Riverside Indian Braves will head out to challenge the Lawton Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverside Indian will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Riverside Indian was able to grind out a solid win over Lookeba-Sickles, taking the game 9-4.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawton). They blew past Classen SAS 20-1 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

The team relied heavily on Corbyn Swift, who scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Qynn Plata, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Lawton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Riverside Indian's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Lawton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-21 record this season.

Riverside Indian took their win against Lawton when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
