Softball Recap: Jacksonville Takes a Loss

Jacksonville came into this matchup off a tough six-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Oneonta Redskins by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redskins apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Ana Strain made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadee Pate-Whitfield, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Jacksonville and nudges their season record down to 12-15. As for Oneonta, their record now sits at 13-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will venture away from home to face off against Munford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oneonta, they will head out to challenge Douglas at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Redskins' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
