Volleyball Recap: Brandon Nguyen Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat KIPP San Jose Collegiate

University Prep Academy had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt KIPP San Jose Collegiate on Thursday. University Prep Academy was the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over KIPP San Jose Collegiate. The win continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won three in a row.

University Prep Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept KIPP San Jose Collegiate between 15 and 18 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-16, 25-18.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University Prep Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Nguyen, who had 41 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Nguyen has posted over his last four contests. Another player making a difference was Taran Kollu, who had four digs, four aces, and one block.

Nguyen wasn't the only good server: University Prep Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as KIPP San Jose Collegiate only served four aces.

University Prep Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
