Softball Recap: West Harrison Victorious

While West Harrison put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Poplarville. The Hurricanes skirted past the Hornets 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hurricanes have posted since April 11, 2025.

Not much got past Reaghan Cuevas, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Poplarville off the board. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Cuevas.

On the hitting side, West Harrison's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rayleigh Necaise, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory snapped West Harrison's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. As for Poplarville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Harrison will square off against Long Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Poplarville, they will take on Hancock at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.4 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
