For those of you who may have forgotten who
last year's National Football Player of the Year was, Murray reminded us all when he scampered 78 yards for a touchdown on Allen's first play of the 2014 season.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Texas A&M commit passed for 393 yards
and three touchdowns, while adding 106 yards and three more touchdowns on
the ground to lead the national No. 2 Eagles to a high-powered 55-41 victory over
Guyer (Denton, Texas) on Friday night.

It was an almost unfathomably perfect beginning to a season in which
Allen (Texas) is expected to challenge for a national title and Murray is
the favorite to repeat as Player of the Year.
Murray's run set the tone for an Allen offense that was clicking on all cylinders, amassing 425 yards of offense in the first half alone. The Allen defense did its job in the first half as well, forcing two turnovers to allow the offense to build up a 34-14 halftime lead.
Guyer's
Anthony Taylor capped off a scoring drive — highlighted by a 40-yard fake punt play — to open the third quarter and cut the deficit to 34-21. But Murray once again had the answer, connecting on a 41-yard pass to
Lee Morris to set up his own 1-yard touchdown run on the next possession to extend the lead.
Both teams continued to pile on the points, but the game was never really in doubt for the Eagles.
David Feliciano and
Jalen Guyton added rushing touchdowns for Allen, while Guyton was Murray's favorite target, catching seven passes for 183 yards and a touchdown.
Taylor finished with 96 rushing yards and three touchdowns for Guyer, and quarterback
Shawn Robinson passed for 238 yards and rushed for another 187, including two touchdowns.
Allen (1-0) will look to keep the momentum going next week against Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.). Guyer (0-1) will hope to rebound as it travels to Ennis (Texas).
