Willcox falls despite strong effort from Maddie Bennett

Recap: Willcox Cowboys vs. Pima Roughriders

The Willcox Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Pima on the road and fell 64-37. While losing is never fun, Willcox can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Pima is ranked 32nd).

Despite the loss, Willcox still got an impressive performance from Maddie Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Bennett hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Paislee Adams, who scored 11 points.

Leading Pima to victory were Ady Hoopes and Madison Gann. Hoopes dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Gann scored 20 points. Hoopes has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Sadie Richardson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Willcox's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Pima, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Benson the next time they take the court. Pima will head out to face Benson at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Willcox will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
