Baseball Recap: Emporia Triumphs

Emporia took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against West, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pioneers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since April 11th.

Emporia now has a winning record of 8-7. As for West, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emporia will face off against Iola at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West, they will take on Southeast on Monday.
