Basketball Game Preview: Lakewood Tigers vs. Valor Christian Eagles

Lakewood is 0-8 against Valor Christian since January of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lakewood Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Valor Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lakewood is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Chatfield. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 15-11 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Valor Christian faced Ralston Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Valor Christian fell 65-58 to Ralston Valley.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Valor Christian, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-4.

Lakewood took a serious blow against Valor Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 88-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Valor Christian's Cole Scherer, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and seven boards.
