Recap: Spur Bulldogs vs. Knox City Greyhounds

If The Spur Bulldogs were riding high off their 52-6 takedown of the Northside Indians last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Spur was beaten by Knox City 72-26 on Friday. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

Spur's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Ace Walker, who punched in a rushing score, and also picked up 67 receiving yards.

Cameron Hernandez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 119 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Blake Abila got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Spur's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.7 points per game. As for Knox City, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Spur does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Knox City will be playing at home against Kress at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kress will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Knox City is ranked first).
