Baseball Game Preview: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. San Clemente Tritons

The Mission Viejo Diablos will head out on the road to face off against the San Clemente Tritons at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.

Trabuco Hills hit Mission Viejo with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Diablos lost 10-1 to the Mustangs. The Diablos haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but San Clemente ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Fullerton 7-5. The win was familiar territory for the Tritons, who have now won six contests in a row.

San Clemente's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mission Viejo, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Mission Viejo skirted past San Clemente 4-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Do the Diablos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tritons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
